Active Older Adults
Active older adult programs and classes include land-based exercise classes and water fitness classes, all of which are free to our members. You can view class schedules toward the bottom of the page.
Exercise Classes
F.I.T./50
Fit Over 50 is similar to Seniorcize, but a bit more advanced. Designed specifically for adults over 50, this class combines exciting dance choreography with toning and stretching for an all-around great workout.
Seniorcize
This class focuses on all aspects of fitness. It combines light dance choreography and floor work to get your heart pumping, as well as light strength training to help increase muscular strength and bone density to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. This is a great low-impact class for a senior beginning to exercise.
Senior Stretch
This class focuses on the importance of stretching. Stretching promotes muscular balance, reduces tension, increases range of motion and helps prevent injury.
Water Fitness
A low-intensity class that gives participants stretching, range of motion, flexibility and balance. This class includes 10-15 minutes of light intensity cardiovascular work that helps keep joints moving to accomplish daily functions of life. This class is designed for those with arthritis, fibromyalgia, or other autoimmune diseases, syndromes, or physical injuries that affect the ability to perform functions of daily life without pain and/or decreased range of motion and flexibility. All of our instructors are certified through the Arthritis Foundation. All water exercise classes are included in your Indianapolis Healthplex membership. Guest participation is available for a fee of $15 per class.
